WP9 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel having about 2.25% chromium and 1% molybdenum in its composition. Its resistance to high-temperature oxidation, creep, and corrosion is improved. WP9 fittings usually have tensile strength of approximately 585 MPa, yield strength of approximately 310 MPa, and elongation of approximately 22–25%. The fittings are mechanically stable and resistant to toughness against heat and corrosive stresses and are hence best used for steam line applications, pressure vessels, and high-temperature process piping applications. The fittings are heat-treated for maximum performance and durability.
