Alloy Steel WP9 pipe fittings, constructed from a chromium-molybdenum steel alloy, have the following composition: 0.07-0.15% carbon, 0.90 – 1.10% chromium, and 0.40 – 0.60% molybdenum. The alloy provides an excellent high temperature strength and resistance to oxidation. The mechanical properties include a tensile strength between 85 – 105 ksi (585 – 725 MPa) and yield strength of approximately 50 ksi (345 MPa) and elongation of 20 – 30%. WP 9 also offers good weldability and excellent resistance to creep and corrosion, which make it a good option for power plants and applications in high-temperature environments.
