317L stainless steel is an austenitic alloy with about 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum with 0.03% max carbon. It has a much higher molybdenum content compared to regular 316L and this greatly enhances its resistance to acidic environments and chlorides. It has a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and a yield strength of about 205 MPa, and it is highly ductile and thermally stable.
