Grade 321 stainless steel is an austenitic one with about 17–19% chromium, 9–12% nickel, and titanium (at least five times the carbon amount) to prevent carbide precipitation and stabilize the structure. It has a tensile strength of around 515 MPa and a yield strength of close to 205 MPa, with high ductility, toughness, and high-temperature scaling resistance. The alloy has good strength and corrosion resistance in continuous service to about 870°C.
