Stainless Steel 904L is an austenitic stainless steel alloy of high nickel (23–28%) and chromium (19–23%) content, with additions of molybdenum (4–5%) and copper (1–2%). It confers good corrosion resistance to severe reducing acids such as sulfuric acid and provides excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. The tensile strength of the material is approximately 490 MPa, yield strength is 220 MPa, and elongation is 35%. It has good toughness at cryogenic temperatures and is non-magnetic in the annealed state. Such properties render Stainless Steel 904L Forged Fittings most apt for chemical aggressive environments.
